Bede Way guided walk from Jarrow to coast

Postby Polly » Tue Jun 1st, 2010 10:14 am

We have don this yesterday and it is almost all off lead apart form some road crossing and roadside walking. I recommend to leave the the last bit out. As it is mainly walking along roads and the metro station is not easy to find. A better alternative is to head to Seaburn Metro station from the coast. Mind St. Peters is lovely

Follow in the footsteps of seventh century pilgrims along this 12 mile walk, linking the twin monasteries of St Paul's in Jarrow and St Peter's in Wearmouth, Sunderland. The route follows an enjoyable path through the Great North Forest and passes Tilesheds Local Nature Reserve, Cleadon Hills and Seaburn and Roker in Sunderland:

It sounds wonderful. I hope you all enjoyed it. Hope it wasn't to busy on a Bank Holiday.

It actually was wonderful and strangely quite  - hardly a soul out and about. Which made it so relaxing till we got to the seaside of cause :-] It was packed there but that was only a little bit of the walk.
