Starting Gundog training with Echo

Postby Sue Marsh » Sun Mar 7th, 2010 6:15 pm

Thought long and hard about showing Echo, but do not think it is for me

So, I have booked gundog training with Trevor Rigby and we start next Saturday, really looking forward to it

Hope I do not show Echo up :rwl:

You will have fun Sue - Trevor is very keen on letting the youngsters do what they are born to do while he teaches you to read your dog and work with it. I ran my first Spring Pointing Test with him as judge and he was very helpful - he will be critical but in a very constructive way and non personal way. I would love to live nearer so I could train with him.

Thanks Sue,

I have heard a lot of good things about Trevor and was very pleased that he agreed to take me and Echo on. Really looking forward to it, but a bit nervous as well

You don't know how lucky you East Anglian people are to have Trevor living there. I took Anchor to Trevor many years ago & he taught me so much. He is a very kind trainer and manages to put you at ease.

Enjoy your day :D

Fabulous - I bet you will love it Sue, there's just something really good about watching dogs do what comes naturally.

You will love it! He's so different from anyone else I've seen (in a good way) and you will really get to see your dog in a different light, real eye opener.

As Claire said, Im just really grateful that its a drive I can do ... a mere 2hrs :D

Can't wait to hear about it

I did my first Working Day Trial with Izzy and I have never seen her happier. I am going to see Trevor but not until May, I will be interested to hear how you got on I know that Nina really enjoyed and Kodi was in his element. I am turning to other training as obedience is boring Izzy, she already tries to go through her whole routine without waiting for me to give her the instruction, agility was fast and furious and there were quite a few collies in the group who in their excitment had a very high pitch (sorry annoying) barking attitude and this just sent Izzy into over drive so I have stopped but practising at home so I thought working trials might be the way forward. I am going back for my second class on the 20th.
