when to move from post grad to limit?

Postby Sprocket » Mon May 17th, 2010 3:20 pm

Hi Im such a rookie and feeling very uncertain where to go from here, Loki has won 3 champ show post grads now and 1 limit show in post grad (dont think this one counts for anything). Some people have advised me to move him up to limit, we are entered in one more pg class but deadlines are looming and i dont want to be presumptuous and move him up to limit before i should be doing. want to enter windsor and east of england asap but not sure which to enter him in.... had no one said anything to me, i would have just entered the next few post grad classes, and i realise we are able to enter in post grad because wins are only counted to up to 7 days before postal entry due ....but should i or shouldnt i ? advice please ! im just not sure what the "done thing" is .

I moved Chase from PG to Limit one show early as he was not going to benefit from one of his slightly younger friends being in the same class :rwl: .

If he is well behaved in the ring then moving him up shows a degree of confidence in his ability but if he can still be frisky then it may be better to stay in PG.

Both classes are tricky, stay in PG too long and people see the dog as having been over-looked but move into Limit too early and he may look immature. Think about the dogs you compete against on a regular basis and if he looks mature enough then move him up - if not then stay in PG for the next couple of shows and see how you go.

Hey not much help but there you go :rwl:

I personally would enter him in PG for now as he is doing well in there. You've still got 2 more wins to go until you cannot enter it anymore so I'd take advantage of that. You can keep entering him PG until he wins his way out if you like.

He is looking well but as I haven't had my hands on him I don't know if he 'all coat' and I don't mean that in a bad way I just mean I don't know what his body is like underneath

As you know Kim I have no real idea as I've only done a handful of champ shows myself but I did think the same as Claire, as in you have 2 more wins you can gain so why miss out  Lovely to see how well your doing with him, best of luck whatever you choose :D

i wouldnt have even considered moving, but a few people have said to me that i should consider it....we are staying in post grad for now, its been lovely to have the judges like him so far, , but i am very cautious of counting my chickens before they hatch , we may never qualify out of pgd ....thats showing you just never know!

Unless you have won your way out of PG by the end of the year you should start next year in limit unloess you have to go there before
