I took Echo to meet Russell Clark yesterday who owned Echo's dad to ask for his opinion on his grey grandson :-]

He gave lots of positive comment and encouraged me to show him. I have no idea about showing, but would like to give it a go, so any advice would be gratefully appreciated

First would be find a good local ring craft class, a good one is worth travelling for, I tried 3 before finding a 4th that fit the bill perfectly

Get lots of help off anyone who will give you any (lots and lots of forum peeps are always willing to give advice etc) on anything your not sure of.

Keep it fun as half of it is your dog enjoying what its doing  Keep training short and sweet i.e. if your stacking just do a tiny bit and leave it so its always fun.

Before entering your first show stick another post on here for peeps to give you an idea of what to expect etc, I did a couple of open (smaller) shows with Kodi but then didnt show for some months and dove straight into the WA champ show so I would say do what you feel is right for you at any point. You will find you can make lots of friends showing and they will offer lots of advice if you just ask :)

Most of all just try and enjoy yourself....best of luck with it all!!

I've got a good tip - get into working him :rwl: :rwl: :rwl:

Sorry - that was very norty & honestly meant in jest - I really did try to get into the showing thing with Smelly, but it just didn't cut it for either of us. I couldn't 'do' it but sometimes I really wished I'd persevered

I'm sure you'll do great with Echo Sue - look forward to the first piccies etc :D :D :D

:-] A sense of humour and a thick skin   ...............................

Go for it, find a Ringcraft class, get the practice in and then do your own thing....I turned my a**e towards the judge in my first show as I was so s**t scared and dopey

TBH our forte is now PAT but we still do the odd show and have made loads of mates there en route.....there is good camaraderie and fun to be had..... :)

I think my fav moment was at my first champ show, Frank Kane asked me to run Kodi for a second look and as I strung up the lead I caught all his ear hair and he flailed around crying

A sense of humour is actually definately a must, puppies love going out there and having fun which is fun to watch but a little embarassing when your on the end of the lead :rwl:
